Color of Life

Listen to the waves as the bells crash against the walls
Listen to the struggles encased in the minds of our youth
Capabilities deemed nonexistent
The concept of life begins to fade and the heart's beat of the once dedicated can barely be heard
Searching deep for a purpose no longer vivid in color or cheer
A grey so melancholy the faded begins to fade
Stillness amongst the violins
The canvas yearns for the touch of the cheapest synthetic brush to come face-to-face with strokes dipped first in nothing
Souls have decayed apart from those located in the swirls of johnsongrass
The moon inhales what little may be left of the "why"
The wisdom engrossed in the minds of those who are indebted to their dues remains hidden
Victims of atrophy, but blessed with the ability to regenerate words that may truly never be lost

The reality of the matter can be found in homes where adolescents have yet to come in contact with their childhood
The protagonist has morphed into the villain
And the idea of knowledge being equivalent to power has diminished to a source so minuscule it tends to remain a figment of imagination
Performances unworthy of collecting worthless pennies
How can an individual discover the world when the wings of planes have been reduced to halves
Jet engines no longer sound with fury
They whisper in pain utilizing all forms of energy to produce an inkling of sound
Hollow silence welcomes severe alarms

Listen
As the bluebird sings for his new found liberty
His wings expand like that of a Phoenix
Gracefully proud
Yet unable to leave the ground to engage pursuit
Hummingbirds flitter for the spirits laced with what was once black and white
Now, they flicker shades of Pewter, Smoke-ash and Dust
Coughing on the inhale
It takes sheer will and persistence to collide with life's challenges
Embracing choice, resistance, and resilience

It takes a foolish individual to remain enchained by choices no longer prevalent in a society that exists even to those who were born color blind
You have allowed Them to dictate you
Dominated by a world that has yet to fully embrace an individual entirely
You can be yourself so long as They approve
All options outside of the black box have depleted
They blame educators for those that fail
But where is the accountability for the individuals who planted the seeds in the womb
Television is dominant in its showing of lackadaisical aspirations
Characters baptized in desperation
Destitute of class, motivation or drive
And left chasing the dreams of their masters
They manufacture billions, brainwash millions and are incapable of walking one day in my shoes
How can we continue to change lives with black tape over our mouths and our imaginations shut down
I look into a sea of blank faces
Reaching
To enlighten just one mind enough to take the leap toward responsibility and truth
Honesty, integrity and passion

Graffiti artists no longer comprehend the beauty behind murals
And musicians no longer create harmonic melodies
Lyricists can only be found behind the doors of teenage bedrooms
Encased in the minds of children too afraid to speak up and scream out
Caught up in spending more than we make
Our children are overfed, unprotected and fully dressed in the role of adulthood
Directly resulting in the inability to read, write and think

Change is inevitable
If you aren't changing then you aren't growing
And what's the point of inhaling at your body's natural pace when you have no intentions of taking advantage of the opportunities placed before you
It's like being lost in the woods with zero hope that you will be found
Life is about the acceptance of choice and freedom to conceive ideas, explicate means and overcome circumstances
Without the option of color, life would be bland
Obsolete
Tailored to each individual and the paths they encounter
The deeper meaning behind one's color palette is left for him or her to discover, decode, embrace, then reflect
While the images of me may tell a tale of black and white
I embody the complex notion of living in color
It extends beyond the simple recognition of the difference in pigmentation
It is about embracing the thought process when introduced to a new hue
Personality
Appreciation
Rich
Effervescent
Bight orange captures the beginning of my day
A blue heavy in my dreams encourages me to look directly into the sun
The argument does not include what you see
It beckons to challenge how you see
While the deficiency of color is pertinent to the development of character
The absence of such does not directly implicate that there is an absence of life
And the presence of a prism reflecting a variety of options does not necessarily indicate that there's a realization of the choices that can be made
Remain limitless with possibilities
Open your mind and engage in conversations worthy of being listened to
Focus less on material possessions and attack those things outside of your grasp
Smile hard at your success and be proud of your achievements

Life's color wheel encompasses more than black and white
This is about the color of life.
